6 Tips for Bathroom Remodeling

That clawfoot tub. The tiled floor. The double vanity—you can already envision your beautiful new bathroom. Now you’re ready to dive into your bathroom remodeling project head first! But before you do, consider these tips from our team at Booher Remodeling Company of Indianapolis.

1. Make a wish list and prioritize it.

Before meeting with our design team, it’s always good for you to have a basic idea of what you’d like the finished product to look like. This list can help you prioritize where to allocate your bathroom remodeling dollars.

2. Set a budget and stick to it.

We want to help you realize your bathroom dreams while at the same time stick to your budget. The first rule of sticking to a budget is having one. Determine how much you want to spend (and can afford to spend) on bathroom remodeling. That will help our designers provide you with your remodeling options and ideas.

3. Know your audience.

Are you remodeling your bathroom for you or for resale? If it’s the latter, do some research on market trends and what types of bathrooms people want in your area. You can ask a realtor friend or ask our design team. Your best bet is to choose modern but classic designs with neutral colors that appeal to a wide range of tastes. If you’re designing a bathroom for you and you alone, then by all means do it!

4. Don’t forget storage.

You can never have too much storage space in a bathroom—or any room for that matter! Having a place for everything simplifies your life and is a huge plus if you ever decide to sell.

5. Keep lighting in mind.

Proper lighting isn’t always on our customers’ minds, especially when they’re thinking about custom walk-in showers or artisan tile flooring. However, be sure to pay attention to how you can enhance the lighting in your bathroom.

6. Don’t go overboard.

We want you to get everything on your wish list, we really do. But don’t try to cram too many things into your bathroom space—especially if it isn’t a huge area. So maybe you choose either the walk-in shower or the garden tub, but not both. (This is where tip #1 comes in handy!)
