Designing a Bathroom with Guests in Mind

When you’re expecting guests, especially overnight guests, you want to think about how to make them feel comfortable in your home. A thoughtfully-designed guest bathroom is the perfect way to make your overnight guests feel at ease and sleep soundly, knowing that their needs are met. To get started thinking about your guest bathroom remodel, take a look at these tips brought to you by the expert design team at Booher Remodeling Services.

Update the Essentials

When designing a welcoming guest bathroom, the first order of business is to ensure all of the essentials are updated and in good working order. If you don’t typically use your guest bathroom, the toilet or sink may have fallen into disrepair, which is certainly not a good look for your guests. Ensure your toilet and shower are up to par, and make the necessary updates. Additionally, we also recommend replacing a pedestal sink with a small vanity. Pedestal sinks are fine for powder room bathrooms where people only need to wash their hands, but for a guest bathroom, it’s really best if your visitors have room to set down their toiletries.

Provide Ample Storage

Next, when designing your guest bathroom, think about your storage options. You want your guests to have everything they need at their fingertips without asking you for everything. If you have space for a larger vanity, use the space under the sink for extra toiletries, paper, and towels. If the vanity isn’t an option, consider wall-mounted cabinets, over-the-toilet shelves, or adding an extra linen closet. Your guests will thank you when they can help themselves to toilet paper and don’t have to track you down in the middle of the night for a roll.

Finishing Details

Finally, add a few finishing touches to make the space even more comfortable. Add towel bars and hooks for hand towels and bath towels, install an extra-large mirror so your guests can comfortably get ready in the morning, and update the paint or wallpaper for a fresh look. It’s also a lovely idea to put fresh flowers in a vase when your guests arrive.

Now is a great time to update your guest bathroom, and Booher Remodeling Company is up for the challenge. For more information on our design and remodeling services, contact our Indianapolis office at (317) 852-5546 or request an online consultation with us today.
