How to Design a Kid-Friendly Bathroom

In Indiana , spring seems to be the time when homeowners get the itch to remodel. If you’re like us, you’re ready to say goodbye to the long winter and get your hands dirty with a new project. Our team at Booher Remodeling Company has the perfect place for you to start remodeling this year: your kids’ bathroom. The kids’ bathroom is probably one of the more neglected spaces in a home, because homeowners generally like to spend their remodel dollars on a master bathroom remodel. However, we have put together a few ideas that will make your kids’ bathroom beautiful and easy to use, and will stay functional for them as they grow.

Install a Double Vanity

If you have multiple children getting ready before school every morning, you know that shared space becomes chaotic. By creating two vanity stations, two kids are able to brush their teeth and comb their hair at the same time. This will not only save time, but will also save your sanity as they will no longer need to fight over the sink.

Install Extra Built-Ins

When choosing a new shower, consider who will be using it. Most showers have a few built-ins for soap and shampoo, but they’re normally at an adult height. Instead of stopping there, why not add a few extra lower cubbies for the kids to store their toys where they can reach them. Then, as they grow older, they can still use the extra storage for other bath items.

Add a Pop of Color

Think carefully about what color theme you’ll use in your kids’ bathroom. Instead of going all out with bright colors and animal pictures, choose something that your kids won’t grow out of in a year or two. Consider painting one wall in a fun color and leaving the rest neutral, so it’s not overwhelming. Then, find some fun, age-appropriate accessories that are easy to replace in a few years.
