Kitchen Remodeling: The Difference is in the Details

Small upgrades to your existing kitchen can update your space without having to do a full kitchen remodel. Booher Remodeling Company, an award-winning Indianapolis kitchen remodeler, recommends you consider these small upgrades. You know you’re a likely candidate if: 1) your budget doesn’t allow for a large home improvement project or 2) your kitchen design and layout still fits your needs but you want a touch of modernization.

Cabinet Hardware

Nothing outdates kitchen cabinets like an old-style knob or handle. Choosing new kitchen hardware can really transform your kitchen’s look and feel. Updating hardware gives new life to kitchen cabinets without having to replace every cabinet.

New Paint

If your kitchen seems drab or dreary, how about a fresh coat of paint? Nothing can date a kitchen like an orange straight out of the ’70s or a nice 1980s maroon. Neutrals might be a good option, because not only are neutrals very popular right now, but they also are less likely to go out of style in the next two years. (However, if you’re just itching for that bright green kitchen, we won’t hold you back.)

Lighting

A fun and funky light fixture (or at least something that allows you to see your food clearly) may be a good upgrade for a dark kitchen area. You can simply change out an overhanging light, or you may opt to install new track lighting. A new installation may require the services of a kitchen remodeling professional, but the job will still cost less than a complete kitchen overhaul.

Custom Organization

Many people breathe a bit easier when everything in the pantry has a place. Installing custom kitchen shelving and other cabinet organization solutions helps your kitchen feel more structured and clean. If you’re getting ready to sell your home, this small detail can speak volumes to potential homebuyers.

Kitchen Decor

Just because a kitchen is very functional doesn’t mean it can’t look great too! You, your family, and guests likely spend a good amount of time gathering in the kitchen. Consider adding decorative details that make the kitchen inviting, warm, and welcoming. Wicker baskets, green plants, flowers, candles, wall art, and more can take your kitchen from hum-drum to a little bit o’ heaven.
