Top 5 Kitchen Design Trends of 2016

Throughout 2016, Booher Remodeling Company thoroughly enjoyed helping our customers find just the kitchen design to mesh their personal tastes and modern touches. It was a fun year to be in the kitchen remodeling business! As you begin to plan your own kitchen remodel and want to know some of the latest trends, here are a few we think are worth consideration. (For the full list, check out this article from HGTV.)

1. Go gray.

White has been a classic choice for cabinetry for a long time, and it should be. It’s proven itself to stand the test of time and look great in a number of different home styles. However, we’ve also seen many people opting for gray tones. Similar to white, gray cabinets offer a neutral color palette to coordinate with your walls, flooring, and so on. However, gray is a great way to modernize your kitchen.

2. Select bold light fixtures.

Many homeowners are choosing to make a statement with the light fixtures in their kitchens. So in lieu of a ceiling fan, recessed lighting, or your run-of-the-mill fixture, consider a bold chandelier that lights up your room and will be remembered by guests.

3. Choosing smart storage solutions.

When you get new cabinets, you have so many options. Before you get a basic cabinetry package, consider the functionality of your space. Many homeowners (especially those with smaller kitchens) are choosing smart cabinet and pantry solutions to make the most of the space they have. Find out what might help you get better organized in your kitchen, and choose a few upgrades.

4. Upgrade to commercial appliances.

A standard refrigerator may be a thing of the past. Many homeowners who opt for a full-out kitchen remodel want top-of-the-line appliances. They want a chef’s kitchen, with a convection oven, induction stove, and the latest in microwave technology.

5. Mix your materials.

Want to add a little woodwork or stonework to your kitchen? Join a number of homeowners who like to mix it up when it comes to countertops, the kitchen island, or other design details. From wood and metal to stone and recycled materials, homeowners are thinking outside the box when it comes to what materials they use in their kitchen space. Want more ideas?
