3 Tips to Brighten Up Your Bathroom

Does your bathroom feel like a dark cave? Lack of lighting or the wrong paint color can easily make any bathroom feel heavy and boxed in. But with a little help from our team at Booher Remodeling Company, you can transform your bathroom into a brighter, more airy space with just a few fixes.

1. Choose a light, neutral color scheme.

Even if the walls in your bathroom are light, dark cabinetry or wall tile can make it feel dark and gloomy. We recommend that you lighten up everything you can using complementary neutral colors. Whites and light gray can go a long way to making your bathroom look and feel more like a spa. You may decide to paint your space or replace the bathroom vanity, floor or wall tile, or whatever is lacking in “light.”

2. Enhance the natural lighting.

If your bathroom already has a window or skylight, let as much of that light in as possible. You may want to change your window treatment or get rid of it altogether (depending on how that affects your privacy). The bottom line is to maximize the amount of natural light. If you don’t have natural light, consider whether you could add a small window or skylight.

3. Update your light fixtures.

Nothing makes a dark bathroom feel even more oppressive than harsh or dim lighting. You have so many lighting options these days, especially LED options, that allow you to brighten up your bathroom with a warm, natural light. You may only need to replace the light bulbs to get the desired effect, or you may decide to change out the entire light fixture.
