6 Little Changes You Can Make to Your Kitchen Now

Many people wait to remodel their kitchen because they don’t think they have the time, money, or resources. Instead of investing in their kitchen and doing any updates, they end up just letting it stay the same year after year. Our staff at Booher Remodeling Company understand that not everyone can overhaul a kitchen. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t make it your own. In fact, we pulled together six small and relatively easy changes you can make that will help update your kitchen in the here and now. Depending on your budget and time, you may decide to do all of them or choose one or two that make the most sense for you.

1. Pick a new wall color.

We do kitchen remodels every day and are still amazed by what a big difference a gallon or two of paint can make. By changing the paint color, you can easily transform your kitchen in a day or a weekend.

2. Switch out pulls and knobs.

You can easily update your space just by installing new cabinet hardware. Choose a style that’s modern and that meshes well with the existing cabinet color.

3. Change the light fixture.

A light fixture can easily make a home feel old and out of style. By changing out a light fixture or two in your kitchen, you can easily turn an old, dingy space into one that feels hip and current.

4. Update your decor.

Curtains, wall art, family photos—all these final design elements can make or break the look of your kitchen. The great thing about getting new home decor items is that you can do it one piece at a time and bring your look together slowly as you have time and money to acquire what you want.

5. Opt for new appliances.

Okay, this option isn’t cheap, but it is a fairly easy fix if your current appliances are on their way out or have seen better days. New appliances can instantly say “modern kitchen.” Plus, newer models often come with convenience features that you might just fall in love with.

6. Replace cabinet doors.

You may not have the budget to replace cabinets completely, and if your existing cabinets are functional and sturdy, you don’t need to. However, simply changing the doors to a more recent design can bring your kitchen a much-needed update. Plus, replacing or refacing the doors is much less expensive and less invasive than a complete cabinet replacement.
