Back to School – A Family-Friendly Kitchen for a Smooth Transition

Every parent knows that back-to-school also means back to lunches, after school activities, and a slightly more hectic pace. At Booher Remodeling Company, we know that having a well-organized, family-friendly kitchen can actually take some of the stress out of the school year for parents and children alike. Whether your kitchen just needs a little re-organizing or a complete kitchen remodel, the following tips are sure to help families on the go. In our experience, a family-friendly kitchen should include as many of these elements as possible:
  • A breakfast nook or island with seating for a quick and nutritious breakfast. This also often becomes a spot where kids like to hang out and chat.
  • Lots of counter space for kids to help make their lunches and snacks. If you’re going to be changing the countertops in the not too distant future, choose non-porous materials that are stain and scratch resistant to ensure they can stand up to your family.
  • A pantry with healthy snacks that kids can help themselves to after school.
  • A tidy kitchen island or table for kids to spread out to do their homework. (You may also want to set up a separate study space outside of the kitchen for older kids. A finished basement is a perfect spot for a homework room.)
  • A large eating area or dining room where the whole family can congregate for meals and share the highs and lows of their day.
As a family-owned and -operated business, we at Booher understand what’s important to families and always strive to provide our customers with personalized service and premium workmanship.
