Bathroom Remodeling Ideas for 2017

It’s a new year, and you’re ready for a new bathroom. For too long, you’ve looked at that dated tile and wished for a walk-in shower. Now, it’s time to make your home-improvement dreams come true with Booher Remodeling Company of Indianapolis, IN. Before you start knocking down walls or ripping out your bathtub, check out some of the 2017 design trends (originally shared by InteriorZine.com) that you may want to incorporate into your remodeling project.

1. Insert some organic elements.

Natural elements (think wood, stone, greenery, etc.) can add some great design detail and help cozy up your bathroom space. You can mix it with neutral colors or go bold by including natural woods or stones with bolder, brighter colors.

2. Don’t be afraid to go bold.

One of the best ways to go bold this year is to combine modern design with natural elements. You can choose bold colors or synthetic elements and infuse them with features like natural wood countertops, bamboo flooring, or open wood shelving. If you’re not sure how to do this, one of our bathroom design experts can help you find ways to blend the modern and natural elements.

3. Consider the details.

A unique sink faucet or a garden feature wall in your bathroom can take your remodel from ordinary to extraordinary. These details can be easy to accomplish but make a huge statement to transform your space.

4. Don’t write off dark colors.

In the past, many designers have shied away from using dark colors. However, a well-chosen dark gray or even black can be a great complement to natural wood elements, stone, or lighter complementary colors on the floors, vanity, or walls.

5. Rethink subway tiles.

Subway tiles tend to be timeless, but we’ve definitely seen an increase in their use for bathrooms and kitchens in recent years. To use these traditional tiles with a twist, consider using the same tiles in a different pattern. You can place them vertically instead of horizontally or line them up perfectly in lieu of staggering every other row.

6. Embrace brass.

Many people cringe when we mention bronze. They have flashbacks to the 1980s and early 1990s and think, “Isn’t that what we’re trying to replace?” Yes and no. The bronze of old tended to be more yellow, brash, and shiny. The modern brass features that are making a statement are more refined, brushed, and more elegant than their brassy cousin. So before you cross bronze off your list, see what’s out there, and see if you can infuse a few elements. Want even more bathroom design ideas for the coming year?
