Indianapolis Home Remodeling: The Design-Build Process

After saving your hard-earned money and making the most of your existing space, you’re ready to do some research on Indianapolis home remodeling. But before you do, you want to make sure you know what you’re getting into. Booher Remodeling Company outlines our design-build process step-by-step on our home remodeling page, but here’s a quick overview to get you started.

Step 1: Set your home remodeling budget & meet with a design consultant.

Determine your home remodeling budget early on, so you don’t spend money you don’t have. After your budget is set, call Booher Remodeling Company and schedule a free design consultation.

Step 2: Request a feasibility analysis from your general contractor.

A feasibility analysis is when the general contracting company looks at your budget and your project goals and determines what is realistic. While this step is optional and requires a fee, a feasibility analysis can save you stress in the long run.

Step 3: Determine a preliminary design.

As a joint effort between you and the general contractor, the preliminary design gets your Indianapolis home remodeling goals down on paper and allows the designer to draw up a “rough draft” of your remodel.

Step 4: Decide on the design details.

During this design phase, you get into the specifics of what style, finishes, and materials you want. This step focuses on the aesthetics of the home remodel.

Step 5: Draft the construction documents.

Before breaking down any walls or removing cabinets, you will want to have a blueprint for your home remodeling project, no matter how big or small. These documents are drafted by professionals for your approval.

Step 6: Prep for construction.

During the pre-construction phase, the general contractor and staff works to order all the necessary materials, secure permits, and so on before “breaking ground.”

Step 7: Let the construction begin!

Our design-build team works hard to get your project done with quality and efficiency. The construction phase is fun as you begin to see the design bear fruit.
