Kitchen Remodeling Tips for Small Kitchens

Just because you live in an apartment or home that is equipped with a small kitchen doesn’t mean this space needs to be boring or inefficient. With careful planning, research and help from the general contractors at Booher Building, you can turn this cramped space into a stylish and functioning room. These kitchen remodeling tips will help you get a big return from your small kitchen space. Storage: Your storage options are endless but need to be chosen carefully in order to make the most out of the area you have to work with. Cupboards: When it comes to your cupboards, be creative to make the most of the space that you can. One option is to use double-stacked cupboards, which is simply one cupboard on top of another. Drawers: Another option is to install drawers on the wall directly beneath your cabinets. These can be especially handy if you don’t have much space for storing towels, utensils and silverware in lower cabinets. Decorations: Decorating spaces can make a big difference in a small space. Painting: Be sure to paint smaller rooms in your home with bright and “clean” colors, different ranges from white to yellow make a great choice. Using dark colors for walls has a cozy effect but when a room is small size wide it will have that regardless. Backsplash: A mirrored backsplash will give the illusion of more space in your kitchen. Just be sure to keep the glass cleaner handy! This effect is very modern and goes well with any décor. Fixtures: Put some thought into your appliances for your kitchen remodel. Most people forget to consider the size of a room when picking out their major appliances. As consumers we tend to pick out our favorite design or style we see at the store but forget to picture the actual space were working with. Ovens: When you are tight on kitchen space, you need to make some decisions based on your lifestyle. If you love to cook, then the smaller 24” ovens may not work out for you, because they often won’t accommodate some of the larger pans, like pizza pans. Dishwashers: Dishwashers come in a compact 18” size, which may fit with the larger oven. If your space is severely limited, you can even purchase what is called a countertop or table top dishwasher. These are made to sit on top of the counter next to the sink. When designing your new kitchen remodel call Booher Building Company Inc at (317) 852-5546.
