Simple Updates to Create a Chef’s Kitchen

Many of us are finding ourselves cooking at home more and eating out less. As social distancing rules continue to evolve, many still are choosing to just stay home instead of risking going out in public. However, with the uptick in cooking at home, you might have found that your kitchen isn’t everything you’d like it to be. Our team at Booher Building Company is here to help! We have a few ideas that can transform your unsatisfying kitchen into a highly efficient workspace that’s designed to satisfy your needs.

Maximize Counter Space

Plenty of usable counter space is something that every chef needs. Unfortunately, in most homes, the toaster, coffee maker, and microwave take up most of the countertop and you’re left chopping veggies over the sink. Our design team can help you find ways to reclaim your counter space. If you have room for it, adding a kitchen island is a great way to add usable space. If not, consider adding storage options to put away those small appliances that are taking up all your space.

Upgrade Appliances

Back when you were eating in restaurants regularly, your appliances served you just fine. But now that you’re a budding chef, spending every night at home, they may need an upgrade. If upgrading all your appliances isn’t in the budget, we recommend at least splurging for a gas stove. Most professional chefs agree they are just better to cook on. Check out our previous blogpost on how to choose kitchen appliances.

Get a Big Sink

We’ll give you two reasons why a deep kitchen sink is always preferable. First, a kitchen sink with a deep base is much easier for cleaning all sizes and shapes of pots and pans without water spilling all over. Second, if you have dirty plates occupying the sink but you have more pots to fill, your cooking will be interrupted. A deep kitchen sink will help you stay on track and efficient.

Even if you’re not a professional chef, adding a few of these professional chef elements will help make time spent in the kitchen more enjoyable.
