Choosing the Right Paint Color for Your Bathroom

When you’re remodeling your bathroom, you feel like you have a thousand tiny decisions to make along the way. One such decision is paint color. At Booher Remodeling Company, we want to help you make your bathroom your own. (We have an entire design team dedicated to that task!) However, if you’re really stuck and want a few things to consider now, here are a few tips from our pro staff.

1. Consider who uses the space.

Are you remodeling your master bathroom? Or maybe you decided to update the bathroom right off the kitchen or the kids’ rooms? Thinking about who will use that bathroom will help you decide what type of color you want to choose. If the bathroom is for your en suite, then you want to choose colors that make you feel comfortable, calm, and most like you. However, if it’s the kids’ bathroom, maybe bring them into the process or think in brighter, bolder hues.

2. Think about resale.

Are you painting the bathroom for your custom design style or are you planning to sell soon? If you foresee a home sale in the next year or two, you may want to opt for some classic, neutral colors that will not easily go out of date. Plus, these lighter colors tend to make a space look bigger, which is a good thing when you’re trying to sell a home.

3. Ask, “What do I want to feel when I enter?”

Colors elicit different emotions. For example, red is a pretty intense color that isn’t prone to making people feel calm and serene. Blue, on the other hand, tends to bring out more relaxed feelings. Write down some words that would describe how you’d like to feel in that bathroom space, and share them with your bathroom designer. Together, you can arrive at a color that achieves just that purpose. Want to find out which color options are available to you? Or maybe you want to get started on bathroom remodeling?
